Things You Can Do....

to ruin your marriage.

1. be selfish.
2. nag a lot
3. focus on getting all that you are 'entitled' to
4. never talk - nicely
5. lie or just bend the truth a little
6. let your emotions rule you
7. focus on all the other persons negative qualities
8. listen to all your self talk (you know, the conversations you have in your head)
9. let the venom roll off your tongue
10. listen to other people who flatter you with lies
11. never listen to the wisdom of others
12. don't persevere - just give up

and most of all....

13. never pray-because your problems are too big for the God who created the universe, the God who hung every star (and knows them by name), the God who controls every wave in the oceans and every creature in them.

14. never give your problems or issues over to God, the only One who can change your loved ones heart and show us how to love perfectly - regardless.

15. just sit back and think about every way that you were wronged, never forgive, hold on to grudges, don't smile and show NO patience!

16. ALWAYS use the words "always" and "you never".

17. take everything personally

18. never say "I'm sorry"

19. compare your spouse to everyone else

20. believe that no other couple has to work on their marriage

Nope, can't relate at all. I've never had 'those' thoughts. LOL! What a liar I'd be.

Sigh.. Thanks for sharing from your heart-- assuming it is yours and not a 'friend'.

Allow the Lord to cleanse you of your pride and rightness. It hurts, but not doing it hurts worse. I will lift you in prayer to the faithful one.

Grace to you my sister in Christ as we walk this season of busy-ness.

I like the last items on your list.

hey amy, i especially like the last one...i think we're so good at comparing ourselves to others and "assuming" that others always have it all together. i know i've played that game before. when in the long run, we don't even need to worry about others and their intentions in that aspect. good stuff.

Number 13 sticks out to me. We can pray to God and say we trust him,but do we trust him enough to obey him even when it is hard. Great post!

We are all guilty of some of these things, some times. The real problem is when you are unequally yoked in a relationship where one person does it all and there isnt a comon goal. Its easy to get lulled into complacensy (sp)and forget what God says about our lives, even when we pray and even when we think we are doing the right thing. Lets face it our marriages take effort all the time, from both sides, forever and always. And we all need to remember to be thankful and to praise our spouses daily.
