I prayed for patience....

Yesterday, I felt a little under the weather. Not bad. But, not good!

I felt my temper shorten with every "mmmooommmm, ______ grabbed, or hit me. _____ is in my room", etc.

Yesterday, I had an opportunity to talk to Mallory about her being patient, speaking kindly to her siblings, etc. She says it's so hard! It is, yes! But to grow in an area (like being patient), I told her, it takes practice. And God is giving all of us practice! So I was trying to help her to see these hard times as opportunities for growth.

After yesterday, I made a point to get up early and pray for our day.

I prayed for patience....

and today, I was gently reminded of the lesson I was trying to teach Mallory.

When I pray for patience, I shouldn't expect my day to go perfectly, with no problems. It has been my experience that God will give me every opportunity to practice having patience until I am good at it. It is His desire that I grow in these areas, to display the fruits of the Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23

What a great reminder, thank you! I remember my dad pointing that out to me once: that God doesn't zap us and make us patient, He gives us plenty of opportunities to learn patience.
Just popping over from Grace upon Grace. Congratulations!!!
